The Way I See It: Neon.

There are so many fun and unique trends coming up for Spring that I have been studying for the Spring Lookbook!  (Don’t you like how I slid that in there?)  Yes, we are doing a SPRING LOOKBOOK! (!!!)  The photo shoot is coming up at the end of the month with the extraordinary photography skills of Katie McGee.  The Lookbook will be available for purchase mid-late March.  Woot! Woot!  I’m really excited!  I learned alot from the Fall/Winter Lookbook and I’m hoping to take what I have learned and make this lookbook even better!  I will be incorporating some of Spring’s hottest trends (neon, pastel, bright bright colors, etc.) as well as some wearable, fun and functional fashion for various lifestyles.  I think it’s gonna be rockin, if I do say so myself.  Stick around here or follow me on Twitter and I’ll be sure to give you updates, sneak peaks and loads of behind the scenes shots!

Moving on to neon: I wanted to start a new ‘feature’ on this little bloggy blog.  It feels so official and yet sort of silly, to say that my blog has a ‘feature’, but I digress.  ’The Way I See It’ will highlight trends and/or things that I come across that I want to put my own spin on.  Neon is a perfect place to start.

Just because I say that I love the neon trend, does not mean that I think every version of the trend will look great on everyone.  For example, the skinny neon jeans.  Now ladies, let’s talk honestly.  I think they look great but they will take a fair amount of courage.  Not sure if I possess that kind of courage yet but if I find a pair that fit well, I might give it a go.  Only time will tell.  That said, these pairs below are lovely.  And if you can rock them, then by all means, do it!

Madewell Skinny Skinny Colorpop Jeans

The Madewell (great brand by the way) pair has a good balance of materials: 98% Cotton and 2% Spandex.  Pay attention to this when you are shopping.  If the jean has more than 5% spandex or lycra then they will be more like a legging than a jean, FYI.  Also, the green shoe with the chambray top is genius.  Love.

Joe’s Jeans has an Ocean blue that is a really cool color right now (pun intended) and this looks like a great pair for all my brave friends out there.

This is the point where we start talking about the neon that I will personally be incorporating into my wardrobe.  I love a good accessory and neon is no exception.  Below are a few ways I think that anyone, no matter your age, can easily add a sprinkle of neon into your wardrobe.

I actually already purchased this little mini (and I do mean mini) messenger bag.  We are going to NYC next week and it will be perfect for cell phone, keys, money, ID, etc.  Great price too.

Funny story: I bought this Timex Weekender for Brad for Christmas.  I actually liked it for myself also, but he has really enjoyed it since it’s super light and thin.

While I was a Target yesterday (I go waaay to often!) and they had this neon strap!  $7!  So now I have a neon orange watch to wear.  See? Easy way to rock the trend.  Oh, and it totally looks more neon and not so ‘hunter orange’ in person.  Trust me.

Stacked bracelets are always fun. Sort of like sprinkles on your vanilla ice cream.  :)

Love the P.O.C. (Pop of Color according to Brad Gorseski) with the shoes!

Needless to say, The Way I See It: Neon is a fun and trendy way to add a little life your neutrals.  Can’t (or shouldn’t rather) wear it head to toe, but throw on a bright shoe or a colorful watch and you’ll be right on point.

This is why I love you: Back in the day….pre-children….I used to be Miss fashion bug. I bought waaay to many clothes, all the time. Shopped with all my DINK money and relished every minute of it. Even when I got pregnant with my first, I bought “cute” prego clothes and tried my best to make those extra 40 pounds look flattering. But then came baby # 2 just one year and 362 days after #1 so getting back to pre pregnancy weight and into cute skinny clothes before I was expecting again just didn’t happen. Now here we are 4 years after baby #2 and I am now for the first time in a long time excited about fashion again. Thank you for spurring me on to try new things and be excited about going into my closet again and maybe even buying something for myself instead of automatically heading to Baby Gap first. I do need a good purging of my own closet but little by little I’m getting there. You’d be so proud that I added 2 pairs of pants and 1 top to my growing good will bag. My goal is to give away every time those plastic Good Samartan bags get put on my front porch. I am so thankful God introduced the two of us in January and brought a much missed long lost love of fashion back into my life. Thank you Lanie Beth! You rock! Cindy
